Paddock Tree Project 2025

The weather may have been miserable during this year’s Paddock Tree Project working bee, but spirits were high! It was a real pleasure to connect with our 2025 participants and come together for a shared purpose. Days like this remind us how much can be achieved when our community rolls up its sleeves.

Throughout the morning we cut steel mesh for guards, shared tips, and distributed 408 native trees with guards and weed mats. This takes us to an incredible 1,454 paddock trees planted since the project began in 2022. It is inspiring to think about the long-term impact of these trees as they establish and mature. They will support biodiversity, improve soil health, and provide shade across our landscape for many years to come.

This year we were also able to distribute an additional 113 replacement trees. These were offered to past participants who needed to replace lost trees, as well as to support those affected by the unusually dry winter. Every tree matters, and it has been encouraging to help people maintain their plantings and continue strengthening habitat links across the district. These small efforts add up to a landscape that is healthier and more connected for future generations.

A huge thank you to all participants, members, and volunteers who made this year’s project possible. Special thanks to Bruce and Denise Lawson, our only Queensland-based members who helped enormously, and to Susan and Janelle Medway for generously volunteering their time to keep everything running smoothly.

We are sincerely grateful to the Biala Wind Farm for continuing to fund this project. Their support enables us to keep planting paddock trees across the district and bring our community together year after year.
