The Gunning Showground Bushland Park is a 2.2-hectare patch of critically endangered Box Gum Grassy Woodland, located just behind the Gunning Showground. With support from the Planting Trees for the Queen’s Jubilee Program and the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund, Gunning District Landcare has been transforming this once-overlooked block into an accessible bushland park for the whole community to enjoy.
Over the past few years, we’ve removed rubbish and old tyres, planted native shrubs and grasses, and built new wheelchair-accessible paths, seating, a yarning circle, and installed interpretive signs.. The space now supports a growing diversity of native wildlife and provides a peaceful spot for walking, resting, or learning about the local landscape.
We regularly host bushcare working bees and community events at the park, with plenty more planned for the future.
