School Holiday Program

Gunning District Landcare’s School Holiday Program is all about connecting kids with nature and hands-on learning. Designed for primary school-aged children, the program offers fun, practical activities focused on local ecology, sustainability, and landcare. From paleontology and wildlife discovery to learning about Aboriginal culture by creating “bush animals”, our sessions are a great way for kids to get outside, learn something new, and get their hands dirty!

This project is supported by grant funding, and runs during the NSW school holidays, with locations rotating across the Gunning region.  The program is free to attend, though bookings are essential to manage group sizes and ensure we’ve got enough resources for everyone.

Past sessions have included waterbug surveys, looking for “bush braille”, and learning about fossils and geology. Our goal is to nurture curiosity and environmental stewardship in our local children in a fun, supportive setting.

Details for upcoming sessions are announced via our newsletter and Facebook page. If you’d like to volunteer to support these activities, we are always looking for an extra set of hands (WWCC essential).
